Pakistan captain, Babar Azam, has refused to comment on Mohammad Rizwan's recent tweet following the win against Sri Lanka, stating that he is open to discuss cricket matters but not inclined to talk about issues outside the sport.

Earlier, Pakistan registered their second World Cup victory with a six-wicket win over Sri Lanka in Hyderabad. Rizwan's unbeaten 131-run performance earned him the Player of the Match award, as he played a pivotal role in Pakistan's successful chase of a 345-run target.

After the win, Rizwan took to Twitter to dedicate his century to the victims of Gaza, but this move triggered a massive backlash from fans who demanded the ICC to intervene, citing concerns about mixing cricket and religion.

Meanwhile, the governing body said it's outside the field of play and a matter between the PCB and the player so they can’t intervene in it.

When questioned about the same during the pre-match conference leading up to the India vs Pakistan clash on Saturday, Pakistan's Captain Babar Azam remained tight-lipped and refused to comment on the matter.

Here’s what Babar Azam said:

"I think it's better if we stick to talking about cricket – you are taking the conversation in another direction.”

Speaking of Babar Azam, the Pakistan skipper has been going through a tough phase lately. After hitting a century against Nepal in the Asia Cup 2023, his performance has seen a significant decline. In the first two matches of the tournament, he couldn't manage to score more than 10 runs.
