The Pakistan team did not have a great time in India as they could not qualify for the semifinals of the World Cup 2023 and even lost the games against Afghanistan and England. Under Babar Azam's captaincy, Pakistan's performance in the ICC tournaments and even in Asia Cups have not been great.

After Pakistan's poor run at the World Cup 2023, Babar Azam has stepped down from captaincy in all three formats of the game. Shaheen Shah Afridi, who has played under Babar, has posted a tweet after Babar decided to step down from captaincy.

The right-hander has been the ace batter for the Pakistan team for a while now, but his performances at the World Cup were not up to the standards set by him. He will continue to play for Pakistan in all three formats but will not be leading the men in green from now onwards.

Pakistan Cricket Board have announced Shaheen Shah Afridi as the T20I captain and the young Shan Masood as the Test captain of the Pakistan team. Shaheen already has some prior experience in leading the team, as he led his PSL franchise to win the title.

Here's the tweet that Shaheen Shah Afridi posted for Babar

Shaheen posted a tweet appreciating Babar's captaincy stint and how it was great for him to be a part of his leadership and the camaraderie. Now that PCB has appointed Shaheen as the T20I captain, he will be leading the men in green in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024.
