Ahead of the crucial semi-final clash between Australia and South Africa in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, opener Travis Head has issued a challenge to his opponents.

Head, who missed Australia's initial five games due to a fractured hand, has urged South African bowlers to target him yet again, having broken his hand earlier. The semi-final will take place at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, which does provide some assistance to pacers.

Since his return from injury, Head has slammed a hundred and then undergone a poor run, going missing to right-arm medium pacers much like Gerald Coetzee.

As quoted by TheWest, Head stated that he doubts Coetzee (who caused the fracture) would pick on him during the match, and if the South Africans do, he is more than ready.

Here's what Head said

"Go for it. He's taken the most wickets for them but has missed a couple of games so it'll be interesting to see what kind of make-up they go with. I don't think that (the injury) will be in their mind.

The former RCB player stated how the injury turned out to be a blessing in hindsight, and that he bears no grudge against Coetzee.

"I'm sure he didn't mean to hit me in the hand. I reckon it was probably meant to go a little bit higher than that. But that's all part of the game. I take a relaxed approach to all that sort of stuff with performance, injuries.

He did me a favour, I got four weeks at home with the family, so got refreshed, come back and hopefully can be refreshed and energised and can perform at the back-end of the tournament. It might've been a blessing in disguise."

The second semi-finals will be played on Thursday at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
