Rohit Sharma and his press conference never get boring, as India’s all-format skipper keeps on adding humour whenever he sits to have an interaction with the reporters. Similarly, on Monday as well, he did the same thing ahead of India's first Test of the two-match series against South Africa.

Rohit was asked how he handled the situation following the loss of the World Cup 2023 final against Australia. Under Rohit’s leadership, the Men in Blue were in scintillating form, winning 10 games on the trot before going for the summit clash. However, they failed miserably altogether against Pat Cummins & Co., resulting in them finishing as runner-ups.

To respond to the question, Rohit admitted he got a lot of support from the outsiders, and if they manage to conquer South Africa in their own backyard in whites, that would be a ‘good thing’. In addition, he jokingly said how much they worked hard to win the prestigious World Cup title, and if they achieve the feat in South Africa, that would be something they are eagerly looking forward to.

"We have never won a series here and it'll be a big thing if we do it here. I don't know whether it'll be able to take away the pain of World Cup defeat. If we are able to achieve it then it'll be a good thing. Itna mehnat kiya kuch to chahiye," Rohit told the reporters at the press conference.

India's first Test against South Africa will get underway on December 26 at SuperSport Park, Centurion. After that, the two sides will go up against each other on January 3 at Newlands, Cape Town.
