Starc & Hazlewood, Or Boland Back At MCG? Here’s Australia’s Playing XI Vs Pakistan

Last week, Australia, the reigning World Test Championship (WTC) winners, crushed Pakistan at Perth Stadium when the two sides met for the first Test of the three-match series. Mitchell Marsh, who scored 90 off 107 balls and 63 not out 68 balls, along with picking up a crucial wicket of Babar Azam, was adjudged the Player of the Match at his home venue.

While there was little doubt that Australia wouldn’t make any changes in their playing XI after a convincing victory over Pakistan, the only question was whether they decided to bring in Scott Boland, who returned incredible figures of 6/7 on debut to help his side secure the 2021/22 Ashes.

More importantly, Boland’s debut was at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), where Australia are all set to go up against Pakistan for the Boxing Day Test match from December 26 onwards.

However, the WTC champions have not gone with their emotions. They stuck with the same playing XI, which enjoyed a thumping victory. Hence, Boland, who began his Test career impressively, has to be sidelined again at his home ground due to the presence of Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, and skipper Pat Cummins.

David Warner, Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Steve Smith, Travis Head, Mitch Marsh, Alex Carey (wk), and Nathan Lyon were the others who were present in the lineup alongside the fiery pace trio.
