Team India is set to lock horns with South Africa in a two-match Test series, starting from December 26 at SuperSport Park, Centurion. This series is part of the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 cycle, with crucial two points at stake for both teams.

With the weight of never having won a Test series in South Africa, Team India shoulders an added mental pressure. The team is acutely aware of this less-than-ideal track record as they gear up to confront the challenge posed by the home side.

On a brighter note, Team India gets a boost with the return of their star players. Captain Rohit Sharma, along with the experienced Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, and Mohammed Siraj, are back in action for the first time since the gut-wrenching World Cup defeat.

R Ashwin Introduces ‘The Biggest Enemy’ of Indian Cricket

Even with the expectation of pace-centric battles on the seaming wicket of South Africa, the focus shifts to Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, set to bring their spin wizardry to the forefront.

Meanwhile, ahead of the Boxing Day Test, R Ashwin introduced the former local manager of the World Cup winning Australia team in his latest YouTube video.

Here’s what the Tamil Nadu spinner said while introducing the ‘special person’ on his YouTube channel:

"‘Sir should we introduce you as 'Paapa' or 'R Venkatesh'?"

"Paapa Venkatesh is good enough," came the reply from R Venkatesh.

"So, right now he is one of the biggest enemies of the Indian cricket team. He was the local manager of the World Cup-winning Australian cricket team until last month. Why did you do this to us, sir?" R Ashwin asked.

"My life was peaceful until that happened. My entire peace has been lost since then," Venkatesh replied.

R Ashwin further asked R Venkatesh about his prior experience with the World Cup winning Australian team and how he is feeling now travelling with the Indian team as the local manager, to which he replied:

"I am doing the same thing I did with Australia here too. But then, since I am doing it with known faces, it's a lot better.”

Having played just one game in the 2023 World Cup against Australia, Ravichandran Ashwin was sidelined for the remainder of the tournament. This marks his return to action, making it the first appearance since the World Cup.
