It was a dream debut for India's domestic stalwart Sarfaraz Khan, who countered the English attack with his blistering 62 after knocking on selectors' doors for years. However, it could have been more fruitful had it not been for the run-out, which happened while being at the crease with senior all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja.

It all happened when Jadeja was batting on 99 as he played one down the ground sniffing a single, but a sharp, direct throw from mid-on fielder Mark Wood at the non-striker's end saw Sarfaraz short of his crease.

Wood's throw was too good that Sarfaraz had no chance to make it, even if he would have dived on the spot. The result generated some wild reactions from the crowd, mainly from skipper Rohit Sharma, who threw his cap in anguish.

Sarfaraz Khan seemed quite disappointed as he walked back to the pavilion with his family saddened as well. After this controversial run-out, Jadeja received quite some flak on social media, with public outbursts on display.

Therefore, understanding the situation, the left-hander issued an apology on his Instagram account.

"Feeling bad for Sarfaraz Khan. It was my wrong call. Well played."

Moreover, Sarfaraz, speaking after the game in a press conference, expressed his admiration for Jadeja while adding that it was a case of miscommunication.

"Jadeja was guiding me through the innings. He told me to spend some time in the crease and said that the runs would follow. He came to me and said that a little bit of miscommunication happened'. I was okay with it."

Coming back to cricket, Jadeja had a great day on the field as he smashed his fourth Test ton, that too on his home ground of Rajkot, while captain Rohit impressed one and all with his gritty 131, helping India reach 326 for the loss of five wickets by the end of the day with Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav at the crease.
