Ahead of the Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024) mini-auction, mega trade swaps took the internet by storm. Gujarat Titans traded its captain, Hardik Pandya, to Mumbai Indian in an all-cash deal.

To free up money for Hardik Pandya, MI pulled off a masterstroke. They put Cameron Green on the trade block, and despite a lack of enthusiasm, Royal Challengers Bangalore acquired him in a last-minute all-cash trade exchange.

While RCB paid 17.25 Crores for Green, MI traded Pandya for 15 Crores, thus making a profit of 2.25 Crores for the upcoming auction.

Meanwhile, former Australian cricketer Brad Hogg feels RCB fell for the bait and did a huge favor on MI. He says RCB perhaps took the plunge with the anticipation of having to pay a huge lump sum for Green during the upcoming mini-auction.

Brad Hogg Questions RCB's Gameplan Behind Cameron Green Acquisition

However, RCB made a poor choice by acquiring Cameron Green, feels Brad Hogg. He believes the franchise has already spent millions on building a potent batting lineup comprising the likes of Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell, and Faf Du Plessis.

In this auction, they needed to save money to buy top-quality bowlers during the auction as they released their core bowling unit at the retention deadline. Instead, RCB ended up spending the money on another batting all-rounder, which is madness.

Hogg also added that perhaps Green is well-suited for other teams with respect to lineup composition. He simply does not fit in the men in red lineup as of yet.

RCB released Harshal Patel, Wanindu Hasaranga, and Josh Hazelwood at the retention deadline, with only Mohammad Siraj left as a proper bowling option. Undoubtedly, RCB will face an uphill task of building the bowling lineup from scratch in a mini-auction, where options are minimal.

IPL mini-auction will be held on 19th December in Dubai, wherein a total of 1166 players are expected to go under the hammer.
