The Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024) carnival is just months away, and preparations for the largest T20 league in the world are in full swing. Last week, franchises released their respective list of players retained and released for the upcoming season.

Additionally, as many as 1166 players registered for the auction and will go under the hammer shortly. It's important to note that over 1000 players will be fighting for a mere 77 slots remaining, out of which 30 are allocated to foreign nationals.

Having said that, ahead of the mini-auction, BCCI officially confirmed the venue for this year's bidding war. This year, the min-auction will be held in Dubai on the 19th of December, thus marking its inaugural year overseas.

Due to election season in India, BCCI decided to shift the venue for the mini-auction overseas. Team owners were requested to grace the venue a couple of days ago to ensure the smooth and timely conduct of the event.

Also, to those unversed, the upcoming IPL auction will be the last mini-auction to take place before IPL heads into a complete overhaul next year. In the following year, a mega-auction will take place, which will once again cause a major scuffle of lineups like it did the last time.

IPL Auction Madness To Begin Soon

Coming back to the mini-auction, several high-end names will be up for grabs this winter. World Cup 2023 heroes Travis Head, Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and New Zealand young sensation Rachin Ravindra registered themselves for the auction on the deadline.

Additionally, Indian stars such as Shardul Thakur, Kedar Jhadav, and Harshal Patel will go under the hammer after being released by their respective teams last month.

Nonetheless, the fans are in for a treat as the IPL's forthcoming auction generates intense excitement and thrill related to the player's alleged movement. Not to forget, the trade window is still open, thus allowing franchises to pull off key player swaps. Earlier, Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore landed big names through the widely popular exchange process.
