Chahar makes big claim on MS Dhoni’s IPL future

Deepak Chahar recently said that MS Dhoni has been making good recovery from his knee surgery and the former Indian captain should focus on playing at least two or three more IPL seasons for the CSK franchise.

While speaking with the PTI, he said: “He has recovered well. For me personally, he should play for another 2-3 years. It’s his call. He told everyone he is going to play his last game in Chennai. I think he will only decide.”

Deepak Chahar also urged MS Dhoni to enjoy his cricket at the twilight of his competitive career.

“He should not be taking it at this time because it is the end of his career. He should be enjoying not taking responsibility and pressure for the team,” he added.

MS Dhoni last took field for the CSK franchise back in May 2023 during the final of the IPL 2023 season. The legendary wicketkeeper-batsman led his team to their fifth title victory by overcoming defending champions Gujrat Titans in front of a near-capacity Ahmedabad crowd at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

Following the final, a 42-year-old Dhoni hinted out a possibility of extending his IPL career by another year. After months of speculation, the CSK franchise eventually retained their top draw in November 2023 during IPL 2024 retention day.

Deepak Chahar was also retained by the franchise, alongside a number of senior members including Ravindra Jadeja, Moeen Ali and Ajinkya Rahane.
