Gujarat Titans head coach Ashish Nehra seems to have some high expectations from new recruit and ex-Punjab Kings batsman Shahrukh Khan. The former Indian fast bowler recently hyped up the uncapped cricketer ahead of the forthcoming IPL 2024 season.

Interestingly, Nehra did so with much flair, as he resorted to his usual humorous self to acknowledge Shahrukh’s presence in the Gujarat Titans setup.

Shahrukh Khan, who represented Punjab Kings from IPL 2021 till IPL 2023, was released by the franchise during the IPL 2024 retention phase back in November last year. The 28-year-old was acquired by the Gujarat Titans management the following month during the IPL 2024 auction in UAE.

With mere days remaining prior to the launch of the much-awaited season, Gujarat Titans head coach Ashish Nehra was asked by the reporters if Shahrukh Khan would be helming the ‘finisher’s’ role for the franchise.

Known for his impeccable comical timing, Nehra hyped up the Tamil Nadu cricketer by drawing a parallel with the cricketer’s namesake, Bollywood superstar and KKR co-owner Shahrukh Khan.

Responding to the reporter about Khan’s prospects as a finisher, the Gujarat Titans coach said: “Dekhiye, pehli baat yeh Shahrukh Khan hai, main actor rahega.” (He’s Shahrukh Khan, he will be the main actor).

Gujarat Titans will be commencing their IPL 2024 campaign on March 24 with a match against five-time winners Mumbai Indians. 

As per Titans’ phase one IPL 2024 schedule, the much-awaited contest will be staged at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
