Ahead of the U-19 World Cup 2024 final clash against Australia this Sunday at Willowmoore Park in Benoni, Indian captain Uday Saharan is focused on rewriting history rather than seeking revenge. Saharan, the tournament's leading run-scorer with an impressive tally of 389 runs in 6 matches, expressed his team's determination to create their legacy in cricket.

Reflecting on the impending showdown, Saharan stressed the importance of staying grounded and concentrating on the present challenge.

"We are concentrating on our game and giving our best. "Every game is crucial because it's the World Cup, and all teams are formidable," Saharan said.

India's journey to the final has been marked by dominance, with Saharan's leadership steering the team to victory in every match. Despite facing a stern test against hosts South Africa in the semifinals, India prevailed with a narrow two-wicket win, underscoring their resilience and determination.

Expressing his aspirations, Saharan articulated the team's collective dream of clinching the coveted title.

"Winning this tournament is something we are all dreaming of. We want to repeat history and etch our names in cricketing lore," he declared.

As anticipation mounted for the final clash, Saharan called upon the nation to rally behind the team, promising to leave no stone unturned in their quest for victory.

"I want to encourage my people back home to keep helping us out in this way. We pledge to do everything in our power to retrieve the Cup," Saharan pleaded.

While acknowledging the illustrious alumni of the U19 setup who have transitioned to the senior national team, Saharan remained unfazed by comparisons, emphasizing his focus on the present moment.

"I never think about it.I think about how I can give my best for the team and how to get the best out of the team," he stated.

The title clash will be a rematch of the senior men's ODI World Cup final last year when Australia defeated India in Ahmedabad to clinch a sixth title. After defeating Rohit Sharma's team in the World Test Championship final, the Australians had dealt the Indian team two heartaches in 2023.

This Sunday's match will determine if the junior team can avenge the senior team's losses to Australia or if it will be another disappointing outcome for the men in blue.
