Former Pakistan cricketer Shabbir Ahmed Khan has accused Team India of ball-tampering against England in the series-deciding fifth Test match at The Oval earlier this week. Ahmed accused the Indian fast bowlers of applying Vaseline on the ball, basing his claims over the fact that the ball was still swinging after 80 odd overs.

A fast bowler himself during his playing days, the 49-year-old further urged umpires and match officials to send the ball to a lab for thorough examination.

Pakistan Cricketer Alleges Foul Play In India’s Win

Former Pakistan fast bowler Shabbir Ahmed Khan made an explosive claim on Monday, August 4, i.e., mere moments after Team India secured a historic six-run win over England at The Oval to level the five-match series 2-2.

Taking to his official X account, Shabbir alleged Indian bowlers of ball-tampering by applying Vaseline to the ball. He wrote:

“I think India used Vaseline After 80 + over Ball still shine like new Umpire should send this ball to lab for examine.”

As it happened, England started out Day 5 at 339-6 in 76.2 overs while in pursuit of 374 runs. Still 35 away from a win but with as many as four wickets remaining, the Englishmen struck a couple of confident boundaries earlier in the day.

However, Indian fast bowler Mohammed Siraj responded back with the crucial wickets of both overnight batters Jamie Overton and Jamie Smith. Prasidh Krishna also chipped in with a wicket of Josh Tongue with an absolute peach.

As the match was heading down the wire, Siraj cleaned up Gus Atkinson to seal the deal in India’s favor by mere six runs. The outcome helped Team India to level the five-match Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025 Test series by a 2-2 margin.
