In one of the most hysterical brainfade moments, a West Delhi Lions batter celebrated his century upon reaching 96 in a Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2025 match. Playing against South Delhi Superstarz, opening batter Ankit Kumar got West Delhi Lions off to a flier as his team inched closer to victory with utmost ease.

However, as he reached 96*, the youngster mistakenly thought that he has reached his century, at a time when the West Delhi Lions required just one more run from completing a comprehensive win.

Ankit Kumar Stuns Rana With Pre-Mature Century Celebration

Ankit Kumar clattered 11 fours and six huge sixes for the West Delhi Lions during a chase of 186 runs against South Delhi Superstarz in match number seven of the DPL 2025 season. He shared 158 runs for the opening wicket with partner and fellow half-centurion Krish Yadav (67 off 42) in just 14 overs.

Kumar formulated another 27-run stand with captain and number three batter Nitish Rana for the second wicket. However, as the youngster reached 96*, he mistook the moment for a century and prematurely celebrated the occasion, leaving even his captain Rana stunned in a hilarious brainfade.

Nitish Rana Shines In DPL

To make matters worse for Ankit Kumar, he was dismissed off the very next ball as he failed to bring up his century, thus failing to notch up the winning runs for his team in the 16th over.

Nonetheless, Ankit Kumar’s explosive 46-ball 96 turned out to be enough for the West Delhi Lions to secure a comprehensive eight-wicket win in just 15.4 overs. Captain and senior man Nitish Rana himself smeared 16* from just five deliveries with a boundary and two sixes.

The Nitish Rana-led West Delhi Lions will now face Purani Delhi-6 in match number 10 of the DPL 2025 season on Thursday, August 7.
