Gujarat Titans’ star spinner Rashid Khan hasn’t had the best time in the 2025 Indian Premier League so far. The all-rounder is struggling to find his rhythm. In eight matches, he has only taken six wickets and has been a bit expensive, giving away runs at an economy rate of 9.26.
Even in the 2024 season, Rashid didn’t perform at his usual level, he picked up just 10 wickets in 12 games. Though his economy rate last year was better at 8.4, he wasn’t quite the game-changer fans are used to seeing.
Sai Kishore Defends Rashid Khan's Form
But now, Gujarat Titans’ left-arm spinner R Sai Kishore has strongly defended Rashid. After a recent win, Sai Kishore shut down the ongoing criticism from commentators about Rashid’s form. After the match, former England cricketer Nick Knight asked Sai Kishore,
“What about Rashid Khan? Your spin twin. It hasn’t been the ideal tournament for him. But a couple of wickets (today) in crucial time, how’s it going for him?"
To this, Kishore confidently replied,
“He’s one of the best T20 bowlers in the world. He’s getting his wicket-taking knack back. As a team, we don’t doubt his abilities, I don’t know what it’s like in the commentary box."
Gujarat Titans Beat KKR By 39 Runs
In the match, Gujarat Titans had a well-thought-out game plan that worked perfectly. Their total was more than enough as their bowlers, especially Rashid and Prasidh Krishna (both taking 2 wickets for 25 runs), held Kolkata Knight Riders to just 159/8.
Kolkata’s chase started poorly when Mohammed Siraj dismissed Rahmanullah Gurbaz for just 1 run. Sunil Narine hit a quick 17, but Rashid got him out and followed it up by dismissing the dangerous Andre Russell. Gujarat Titans won the match by a comfortable 39 runs. This spell showed glimpses of Rashid getting back in form.
With this win, Gujarat Titans now have six victories from eight games and sit at the top of the IPL points table with 12 points.
