Rajasthan Royals (RR) have had a rough ride in IPL 2025 so far. Out of the 8 matches they’ve played, they’ve only won 2 and are currently sitting at 8th place on the points table. Things got even worse when they lost two close games; first against Delhi Capitals (DC) and then a nail-biter against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), where they lost by just 2 runs.
But the biggest shock came after the LSG match, when Jaideep Bihani, a senior member of the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) and also a BJP MLA from Sri Ganganagar, accused RR of match-fixing. He claimed that RR’s loss seemed suspicious and hinted that something fishy might have happened.
RR Break Their Silence On Match-Fixing Allegations
Rajasthan Royals have finally reacted to these serious allegations. According to a report by IANS, Deep Roy, a senior official of the franchise, completely dismissed the accusations. He called them "false, baseless, and without any proof."
The RR management didn’t just stop there — they officially wrote to the Chief Minister, Sports Minister, and Sports Secretary of Rajasthan, asking for strict action to be taken against Bihani.
In their official statement, RR said:
"We reject all allegations made by the convener of the ad hoc committee. Such public statements are not only misleading but have caused serious damage to the reputation and credibility of Rajasthan Royals, Royal Multi Sport Private Limited (RMPL), the Rajasthan Sports Council, and the BCCI. They also tarnish the integrity of cricket."
This tension between the RR and the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) started after Bihani raised doubts about RR’s narrow loss against LSG.
In an interview with News18 Rajasthan, Bihani questioned how RR could lose a match at home despite being in a strong position. Without directly naming anyone, he hinted that the match might have been rigged.
Right now, Rajasthan Royals are struggling at the 8th position on the IPL 2025 points table with just 4 points from 2 wins in 8 matches. Their next match is against RCB on Thursday, April 22.
