The 40th match of IPL 2025 will be played between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. DC have been one of the top-performing teams so far, winning 5 out of their 7 games. Meanwhile, LSG have been doing fairly well and are still in the race for a spot in the playoffs.

Will Mayank Yadav Play today? 

One big question before the match is — will Mayank Yadav play today? The young star was included in the “impact subs” list during LSG’s last match, which means he was available as a possible substitute but didn’t get a chance to play.

Mayank had missed the first half of the tournament due to a back injury. He was also in the squad during the match against Rajasthan Royals but didn’t get to bowl. However, this time, there’s a good chance he might finally get to play against Delhi Capitals.

In the latest update, LSG all-rounder Yuvraj Chaudhary confirmed that Mayank is now fully fit. The final decision on whether he’ll play or not will be taken by captain Rishabh Pant and head coach Justin Langer.

Who Could Be Dropped If Mayank Plays?

Now, if Mayank comes into the playing XI, the team might need to drop someone.

Shardul Thakur is in good form, and both Akash Deep and Avesh Khan have been performing consistently. In fact, Avesh Khan was the star in the last match against Rajasthan Royals; he defended 9 runs in the final over and took 3 wickets, which was a big moment for LSG’s bowling unit.

So, if Mayank plays, LSG might drop Prince Yadav, who hasn’t made much of an impact in his recent outings.
