Mitchell Marsh pipped the likes of teammates Steve Smith, Travis Head, Mitchell Starc and even captain Pat Cummins to win the Allan Border Medal at Cricket Australia Awards 2023-24.

Upon accepting the medal at the ceremony, the cricketer praised captain Cummins and thanked the Australian speedster for putting his faith in him. Interestingly, the 32-year-old did so with a rather hilarious remark that left everyone in the audience in splits. He said:

“I'm a bit fat at times and I love a beer but you see the best in me always and you've changed my life. For your support and your leadership, Patty, playing under you is a dream.”

Mitchell Marsh will soon be seen gracing the Australian colors once again through their upcoming three-match T20I series against West Indies. The all-rounder was recently appointed as Australia’s captain for the series in place of rested-players Pat Cummins, Steve Smith and Mitchell Starc.

The series against West Indies is set to commence from February 9 onwards at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart and the fixtures serve as a testing ground for both sides in their path towards this year’s 2024 T20 World Cup.
