Cheteshwar Pujara Talks About Phone Call Leak Incident
In what came out as one of the most shocking incidents, Indian cricketer Cheteshwar Pujara's wife, Puja Pujara, wrote in her book, "Diary of a Cricketer's Wife - A Very Unusual Memoir," where she made some revelations regarding a phone call that made headlines as Pujara overheard one of the teammates discussing a conversation about a person talking to remove him from the side, which was very tough for the Indian batter.
Also known as Mr. Dependable for being solid on the crease, especially during the 2018-2019 Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia, Pujara put on memorable performances as he helped India lift the trophy down under.
However, in an exclusive interview with NDTV, Pujara spoke about the incident and clarified that he is not there to expose anyone; in fact, he had moved on despite being disappointed with what had transpired.
"The person's name is not there in the book for a reason. If we wanted to expose someone... I don't want to dwell too much into it, yes I was disappointed about what was said. But, at the same time, you move on, you look at the bigger picture. When you are representing the country, your job is to win matches for the Indian team. I had a job at hand,"
Pujara Reveals His Struggle During Melbourne Test
Adding that his focus is only to ensure that the team wins and he keeps on piling runs. Pujara then shifted his focus on how playing in Melbourne was tough as he was dealing with a niggle, and in the end, scored a century, which is where they created memories in Australia despite being under pressure.
"That was our first every victory on Australian soil. When I was playing Melbourne Test match, my focus was how can I contribute to the team's success. I was in good form. There was a bit of a niggle. I ended up scoring a hundred and the team won that match. Everything settled down. My thought process was to create history with Team India."
Displaying his maturity, Pujara confirmed that he did not want to expose anyone as he was disappointed, but ensured that he would never, ever reveal the name of the person.
