With the Indian Premier League (IPL) ElClásico between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) just one night away, former England captain Michael Vaughan made a bold prediction that five-time IPL champion Rohit Sharma could move to CSK next year.

This potential switch could practically rival the Hardik Pandya to Mumbai saga of this season. Rohit Sharma, a five-time IPL winner, moving to their arch rivals, who also boast five IPL trophies, would indeed ignite IPL madness. 

If CSK could pull this off, the rivalry is bound to intensify even further in the coming years.


What Vaughn said?

"Will he (Rohit Sharma) go to Chennai? Replace Dhoni? Gaikwad is doing it (the captaincy) this year, and it might be just (an act of) holding position for Rohit next year. I see him in Chennai," Vaughan said in BeerBiceps podcast.


Reasons to believe why Rohit to CSK could be a possibility

CSK's history reveals a consistent pattern: They consistently pursue match-winners whom Mumbai Indians let go. This trend began with Dwayne Bravo and persisted with Dwayne Smith, Ambati Rayudu, and Harbhajan Singh. 

These players excelled as match-winners for MI and seamlessly transitioned to doing the same for CSK. 

Should Rohit Sharma become available for purchase, opting for him would be the most straightforward decision CSK could make.
