Talismanic Australian cricketer Steve Smith emphasised the formidable task of confronting India in the highly anticipated World Cup 2023 final at the bustling Ahmedabad stadium. However, he tactfully refrained from delving into specifics when queried about the team's strategies against the undefeated hosts.

In a post-match interview with official broadcaster Star Sports,' Smith engaged in a conversation with Aaron Finch and Shane Watson, with Watson posing the pivotal question about Australia's strategy against the unbeaten hosts.

In response, Smith's initial answer, "Good question," left a momentary silence, prompting him to restart the dialogue.

"I really don’t know. They are the best team and have won 10 matches. India has a strong bowling attack. We will try to give a good performance against them," he remarked, acknowledging the dominance of the Indian team.

Recognising the enormity of the challenge, Smith emphasized that facing the tournament's best side in front of 130,000 spectators at the world's largest cricket stadium adds another layer to the contest.

"They are playing really good cricket. I don't think they have lost a game in this World Cup. They are playing really well, they are going to be playing in front of 130,000 screaming fans. Yeah, it's going to be a great atmosphere, I am looking forward to it,"  Smith responded to Star Sports presenter and former captain Aaron Finch, who sought insights into how Australia could overcome the 'dominant' Indian side.

As a seasoned player, Smith holds a World Cup title from 2015, a T20 World Cup victory in 2021, and recently secured the World Test Championship (WTC) in 2023. With Australia boasting a 2-0 record over India in the ICC tournament finals, Smith, a consistent performer, presents a significant threat and is keen on securing his fourth ICC title.

India's flawless performance in the World Cup, showcasing synchronized batting, bowling, and fielding prowess, positions them as favourites to win the big-ticket clash.

The final at the Narendra Modi Stadium, with a vocal 130,000-seater crowd's support, gives India a distinct advantage. Australia is well aware of the need to elevate their game significantly to beat the high-flying Indian team on Sunday, learning from their previous encounter in the final.
