Former India captain Sourav Ganguly praised Rohit Sharma-led Indian team ahead of the ODI World Cup 2023 final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, emphasizing that India is in exceptional form. Ganguly expressed that it will be challenging for Australia to hinder India from winning the final and securing the trophy.

Australia secured their spot in the final of the ODI World Cup 2023 against India after a tense three-wicket victory against South Africa in the second semi-final. The undefeated India will now face Australia in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Speaking to the media after the second semi-final between South Africa and Australia at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, the former Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president lauded Team India, stating they are 'looking smashing'. Ganguly extended his best wishes to them before the final and expressed that if the 'Men in Blue' maintain their current level of play, they will be formidable opponents.

Addressing the five-time world champions Australia, Ganguly acknowledged them as a great team as well. He stated,

"India is looking smashing at the moment. I wish them all the best for Ahmedabad. India has played very well in the tournament, and just one match and Australia stand between them and the World Cup trophy. If India continues to play like how they have performed in the tournament so far, then it will be tough to stop them. It will be a good match as Australia has a good team as well."

Australia has claimed the World Cup five times, while India has secured the title twice, with the last triumph in 2011. The last final encounter between these two teams occurred in 2003, where Australia defeated Sourav Ganguly-led India to lift the trophy.

However, in 2023, India is considered the favorite to win the final against Australia on their home turf. Ultimately, the outcome of the game will be determined by which team handles the pressure better on the given day.
