After lifting their third IPL title, KKR’s ongoing campaign is troubling them. After consecutive defeats, KKR is standing in the seventh position of the points table. In the absence of Gautam Gambhir, KKR’s ongoing struggles are grabbing the attention.
But amidst that situation, Abhishek Nayar’s re-appointment in KKR gave a huge boost to the team. Ahead of their next clash, pacer Harshit Rana opened up about the team's current challenges and the impact of Gambhir’s absence in the squad.
On Gambhir's Absence
After a memorable campaign in the last IPL season, KKR faced the biggest setback as Gautam Gambhir was appointed as Team India’s head coach and parted ways with the franchise. In Gambhir’s absence, KKR is struggling with its form in the ongoing edition.
While talking about this, pacer Harshit Rana said that the support staff group is almost the same, and Abhishek Nayar’s return is a major boost for the side. But the thrill is still a big miss in the squad.
“I won’t say that because the support staff is all the same. I miss the thrill factor. Chandu sir (Chandrakant Pandit), Nayar bhai (Abhishek Nayar)… We are getting the environment we need,” he said.
“He has a very smart mind. Reads cricket very well. He knows the Indian core and developed it. We are getting a lot of help,” he added.
Rana Remains Unsatisfied With His Performance
After lifting the trophy last year, the defending champions’ struggle is grabbing the attention. With just three wins, they are struggling to put themselves in the playoff race. The KKR players are struggling to find their form. Among all, their bowling struggle is raising concerns.
Despite picking up 11 wickets in 9 matches with an economy of 9.48, Harshit Rana admitted he’s not fully satisfied with his own performance. As the team is failing to dominate the opponent, Rana shared his take on that.
“Our Indian bowling group has been quite strong. I am not that much happy with my performance. Saliva is helping reverse swing. Not concerned about spinners,” he said.
While dealing with their woes, the Ajinkya Rahane-led side is all set to lock horns with the Delhi Capitals in their next match. After consecutive setbacks, they will try hard for a stronger bounce-back.
