Not just in India, but it’s nearly impossible to find anyone in the world who doesn’t adore Shah Rukh Khan. Apart from the silver screen, King Khan spread his charisma even in cricket. In the IPL, the KKR fans eagerly wait to see a glimpse of him.

His love for cricket is known to all as the ‘Badsah’ of Bollywood, often spotted cheering for the Kolkata Knight Riders. Recently, former Pakistani legend Wasim Akram uncovered a different side of the KKR owner, showcasing his love for his team.

Akram Reveals How King Khan Charters A Whole Plane For KKR

After winning millions of hearts worldwide with his blockbuster films, Shah Rukh Khan surprised fans in 2008 by launching the Kolkata Knight Riders. After purchasing the franchise, fans explored another side of Shah Rukh Khan. Over the years, fans witnessed how he took care of the franchise and the players as the owner.

But recently, Wasim Akram revealed a lesser-known side of King Khan. In 2010, KKR appointed the Pakistani legend as their bowling coach, and the franchise secured their first two IPL trophy under his guidance. But in a recent interaction, Akram revealed a fascinating story of how SRK went above and beyond for the players.

“I think this happened during the 2012 IPL season. Our knockout match was in Kolkata, and I remember we were going to arrive via, via some place. Shah Rukh Khan was there, so I asked him, 'Khan saab, ek request hai'. I said, 'Ladke bade thak jayenge, hum kal pahunchenge, parso match hai. Toh agar ek private plane,” Akram said.

After that, Akram remained speechless, witnessing SRK’s move as he booked an entire plane just to treat the players in the best possible way.

“He said, ‘Thak jayenge ladke? Koi problem nahi'. Within one hour, pura Boeing jahaaz khada tha for the whole team,” he added.

KKR’s Ongoing Struggle in IPL 2025

After lifting the third IPL trophy last year under Shreyas Iyer’s leadership, the Kolkata Knight Riders are having a forgettable season this year. Starting with a loss to Royal Challengers Bengaluru, the Ajinkya Rahane-led side has faced back-to-back setbacks, winning just 3 of their 9 matches. With 5 matches left in the season, every match is must-win, and playoff hopes seem distant.
