As LSG concluded its IPL 2024 season campaign with a comfortable victory against MI, captain KL Rahul, whose form has been tumultuous, has called for self-introspection amid much backlash over his timid approach.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) posted 214 runs battingfirst at Wankhede which proved to be way above par as despite rain interruptions, LSG bowlers were able to restrict Mumbai Indians (MI) to 196 runs, thus sealing a 18-runs victory.

However, LSG captain KL Rahul was rather disappointed as his team missed out on the playoff race.

He dropped the blame on injuries and slammed LSG for not coming through as a collective unit.

"Very disappointing. At the beginning of the season I thought we had a very strong team and we have all bases covered. Couple of injuries which happen to every team every season hurt us a little bit. We didn't play well enough collectively. We just didn't come together as much as we have wanted. This is the kind of a game we were looking where the batters are scoring and the bowlers are doing their job but couldn't," KL Rahul said.

Regardless, Rahul praised LSG for investing in young talents like Mayank Yadav, who made a huge impact in his limited opportunities.

"The franchise has really invested in the young Indian bowlers. Mayank and Yudhvir were sent to South Africa to train with Morne Morkel our coach. They got good facilities and treatment through the year so they could play this season," said Rahul.

Speaking on his own form, KL Rahul admitted that he now knows where he stands in T20 cricket after the World Cup snub. And he will use the spare time to improve his game and will try his best to adjust to the team needs.

"There's not much T20 cricket coming up now. Its a season where I have learnt where I stand and how can I do better and get back in the team. My role depends on what the team wants. I have did that my whole career," he added.

Lastly, KL Rahul stated that he will be cheering for Rohit Sharma and Co, along with his father-in-law during the T20 World Cup.
