Shreyas Iyer was not completely fit for the game against RR, but still decided to risk himself and batted with an injured index finger. He scored 30 runs, but did not captain his team in the second innings and had strapping on his finger during second innings. It has raised concerns overs his availability for the next game and the overall intensity of his injury.

Shreyas Iyer Batted With Injured Finger Against RR

After the match, Shreyas Iyer was rightly asked about his finger injury. The Punjab Kings skipper accepted that he was off the field due to an injury, and stated that he also did not know how it happened. He was not sure about the intensity of the injury and mentioned that he would check it now.

"(On not taking the field) Reason is the finger. I don't know what happened. I have to go and check what the issue is. I was just passing on the message that we have to keep the body language strong. I feel proud of each and every individual out there."

On guiding players from the boundary line, Shreyas said that he was just passing the message and wanted the team's body language to be strong. He added that he is proud of each and every individual in the team.

Thus, Shreyas Iyer's injury does not look too bad, and he is expected to play the next game against Delhi Capitals on May 24, unless scan results show otherwise. Also, there is nice gap of 6 days for Punjab Kings and it would help him get back to his full fitness. Punjab Kings have got 17 points in their kitty with a win against RR, and are on the brink of qualification for the playoffs.
