Arshdeep Singh has been one of Punjab Kings’ key bowlers in the IPL 2025 season. However, like every cricketer, he too has had some off days, as he recently bowled one of his most expensive spells in IPL history, conceding 60 runs without taking a wicket against the Rajasthan Royals.
The IPL 2025 season resumed with a bang as RR hosted PBKS on May 18 at Jaipur. In the afternoon game, Punjab batted first, and Nehal Wadhera slammed 70 off just 37 balls. Shashank Singh contributed with a brilliant 59* off 30 balls, and the Kings had 219 runs on the board.
Meanwhile, Rajasthan also responded with a bang. Openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryavanshi, with a brilliant partnership, took PBKS bowlers to the cleaners, especially Arshdeep Singh.
Arshdeep Singh Concedes 60 Runs Vs RR
After the opening partnership of 76 runs between Jaiswal and Suryavanshi, the Rajasthan Royals were battling in the challenging chase. Dhruv Jurel hit 53 off 31 runs to further boost RR’s total.
Meanwhile, Punjab Kings bowlers had an off day. Their prime bowler, Arshdeep Singh, conceded 60 runs and failed to take a single wicket. This is his second most expensive spell in IPL. He previously conceded 66 runs against MI in 2023.
Expensive Spells bowled by Arshdeep Singh in IPL:
Spell | Opponent | Year |
1/66 | MI | 2023 |
0/60 | RR | 2025 |
1/54 | LSG | 2023 |
1/52 | CSK | 2024 |
2/47 | RR | 2023 |
However, regardless of Arshdeep having an off-day, PBKS managed to keep RR at bay. Harpreet Brar picked up 3 big wickets. Moreover, with 22 runs needed off the final over, RR crumbled under pressure and fell short of 10 runs.
With that win, PBKS climbed to second place in the points table, with RCB still leading the table. RR, meanwhile, dropped to 9th place, and they are already out of the playoff race with 10 losses in 13 games.
