Ravichandran Ashwin has been hogging the headlines since the end of play on day 2 of the second Test as he took a breathtaking catch that turned the course of the match.

Notably, New Zealand were cruising to post a big total on the board in the second innings, but Ashwin took a stunning catch running backwards to get rid of Daryl Mitchell, who was building an impactful partnership with Will Young.

Ashwin Pulls Karthik's Legs After Great Effort In The Field

Ashwin was heaped with massive praise for his efforts, and during the post-day presentation, he interacted with Dinesh Karthik, who is currently doing a commentary stint. During the conversation, Ashwin decided to pull Karthik's legs and reminded the RCB coach of all the flaks he gave him for his fielding efforts.

“Hopefully not many, we should wrap it up with one or two runs here and there. Any runs saved in this inning are going to be much more critical for us when we chase it down. It's not going to be easy, we'll have to bat well. I expected a lot more bounce and speed from this Mumbai pitch, it has been quite slow which is a surprise for me. It's not a typical Bombay pitch, but much slower than usual,” Ashwin told broadcasters after the end of the day's play.

“For all the flak you've given me over the years, I don't think I've dropped many (catches). I have got great hands and I trusted it [on the Mitchell catch]. I was just telling myself that it's going to anyway leave me, I wanted to get as close to the ball as possible and I've got great hands, so I trusted my hands to go through with it,” Ashwin said.

Ashwin Goes Past Kumble

Ashwin also shown with the ball as he took three wickets, and with that, he went past Anil Kumble to become the most successful bowler in Tests at Wankhede Stadium. Ashwin has 41 wickets, while Kumble has 38 wickets.
