Glenn Phillips' wicket against India (Source:@viratgoback/X.com)
Ravi Ashwin will go down as one of biggest match-winners for India in Test cricket. He has won India plenty of Test matches, especially at home, and has the ability to deliver with the bat as well along with the ball. The ongoing Test series against New Zealand has not gone well for him so far, but he is a man of character and now in the second innings with the ball, the man is delivering for his side.
He got the big wicket of Rachin Ravindra first and now has got rid of dangerous Glenn Phillips who was hurting India with big hits on a turning pitch. Phillips scored 26 off just 14 balls and hit three sixes and a four in his knock. However, Ashwin unleashed a magical carrom ball on the fifth delivery of the 33rd over and that has cut short a promising knock from Phillips. The ball was pitched just short of full-length on middle and Phillips tried to work it towards the leg side. The ball though turned away and beat the outside edge of his blade to knock over the stumps.
The match is quite evenly poised with New Zealand's lead over 100 and India needing two wickets to wrap things up. It is a difficult pitch to bat with the ball turning with pace and bounce and Indian batters could find it tough, if the target gets close to 200. Earlier, India got the lead of 28 runs at the end of the first innings with Shubman Gill top-scoring with 90. Ajaz Patel picked up a fifer to continue his love affair with Wankhede and he would be crucial in the final innings of this Test match.
