'I Have A One-Year Discrepancy': Amit Mishra Admits Of Age-Fraud

Amit Mishra has been in the limelight after clips from his recent podcast with Shubhankar Mishra have been circulating on the internet. During a candid chat on the podcast, Mishra stated and accepted the fact he has done age fraud.

The legendary Indian spinner also mentioned that his coach asked him to reduce his age when he was a young player. 

In a shocking disclosure, Amit Mishra accepted that when he first played for India in 2003 he was 22 years old but his coach convinced him to reduce his age by one year and his age was documented as 21 years. 

Amit Mishra's Big Revelation On Age Fraud

In the podcast, the topic was discussed after there was a quirky chat between Amit Mishra and Rohit Sharma in IPL 2024. In the match between Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants, Rohit Sharma asked Mishra about his real age. From this, the question was raised in the recent podcast. 

Amit Mishra accepted that he has done a one-year discrepancy and his coach has helped him with this. When the host, Shubhankar Mishra asked Amit Mishra about this age fraud he accepted it and did not deny it. 

"Let me tell you, I have a one-year discrepancy, and my coach helped with that. I didn't even know about it. The coach called my home and asked for one more year for me. It was quite an emotional story. I was surprised and asked, 'How?' He said, 'From today, you are one year younger; now you have two more years.' I agreed," Mishra said on Shubhankar Mishra's podcast.

In the same podcast, he also stated that Virat Kohli is not regarded as a great cricketer among other top cricketers like Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid. 

He also mentioned that Virat Kohli has changed after getting fame, however, Rohit Sharma is the same and has not changed.
