Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) batting sensation Abhishek Sharma continues to impress in the Indian Premier League, emerging as one of the standout players this season.

On Sunday (May 19), Abhishek led SRH to victory over Punjab Kings (PBKS) with a blistering knock of 66 off just 28 balls, securing a four-wicket win for his team.

Former Indian cricketer Ambati Rayudu, speaking on Star Sports, expressed high hopes for Abhishek's future, suggesting that the SRH opener is a strong contender for the Indian squad in the T20 World Cup 2024. Rayudu emphasised Abhishek's selfless attitude and his positive approach to batting.

'Selfless for the team' - Rayudu on Abhishek Sharma

“I’ve had a chat with him in Hyderabad just a couple of days back, and I asked him the same question. What do you think of getting big scores? He said, I’m just hitting at the ball and just trying to be positive and hitting every ball for four or six, that is, I feel him being absolutely selfless for the team, it’s so easy when you are in such kind of a form to just take it, take it back to take it easy for a couple of balls and then build a big innings and score a 100,” Rayudu said.

Rayudu further praised Abhishek's mindset, highlighting how rare it is to find such a team-oriented player in the Indian setup.

"Going forward, I can’t see him not being in the Indian team after the World Cup. I hope he continues with the same mindset when he wears the blue jersey, playing just the way he has been playing," Rayudu added.

Abhishek Sharma has been having dream season, amassing 467 runs at an average of over 38 in 13 games, making him one of the best performers for his team.
