Rishabh Pant's unavailability for the upcoming World Cup has not diminished the admiration he has garnered during his six-year stint with the Indian cricket team, according to former Australian cricketing legend, Adam Gilchrist.

Pant, who suffered a serious car accident in December last year, is presently focused on his rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru, with hopes of making a comeback sometime in the coming year.

In Pant's absence, KL Rahul will assume the role of the wicket-keeper for India, while Ishan Kishan stands a good chance of contributing as a specialist middle-order batsman.

During his promotional visit to India, Gilchrist shared his thoughts, stating:

"I believe Rishabh has inspired numerous wicket-keeper batsmen worldwide with his aggressive style of play. It's truly captivating to witness the impact that Rishabh, at such a young age, has had on the cricketing world, as others are now adopting his positive approach to the game."

Gilchrist also applauded the progress made by Ishan Kishan, even when aware that KL Rahul would primarily handle wicket-keeping duties. He observed:

"India possesses a wealth of talent. When KL Rahul faced an injury setback, Ishan Kishan seized the opportunity and performed admirably. Now, both of them find themselves in the team together, showcasing the importance of making the most of opportunities."

Furthermore, Gilchrist lauded Kishan's ability to consistently contribute to the team's performance and maintain a positive attitude, even when not in the role of the wicket-keeper.

When contemplating potential semi-finalists in the World Cup, Gilchrist made his predictions clear. He shared:

"I believe that India and Pakistan are strong contenders for the semi-finals, along with Australia and England."

Discussing Australia's outlook, Gilchrist mentioned their upcoming series in India and stated,

"Australia will benefit significantly from their series in South Africa, and their three matches against India before the World Cup will offer valuable insights into their form. While predicting the World Cup champion remains challenging, it is likely that four teams will secure semi-final spots."
