Suryakumar Yadav is determined to make a return to India's Test side and focus on the ongoing Buchi Babu Tournament and the upcoming Duleep Trophy to showcase his skills in red-ball cricket.

The 33-year-old, who made his Test debut in February 2023 during the Nagpur Test against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, had a challenging start and managed to score 8 runs off 20 balls before being ruled out of the series due to an injury.

Suryakumar Yadav Reveals Strategy To Make Test Comeback

According to reports of ESPNCricinfo, in a recent interview, Suryakumar Yadav stated that red-ball cricket has always been his priority.

He acknowledges the complexities and challenges of Test cricket compared to the shorter format but is eager to have some 'red-ball fun' and prove himself in the longer format.

"There are a lot of people who have worked really hard to earn their place and even I want to earn that spot again. Going forward, if I have to play, then I will automatically play. That's not in my control. What's in my power right now is to play the Buchi Babu tournament, go on to play the Duleep Trophy and then see what happens. But yes, I'm really looking forward. There are ten Test matches lined up and I'm obviously excited for some red-ball fun." Suryakumar said in Coimbatore.

Despite Suryakumar Yadav's success in T20 cricket, where he has consistently ranked among the top three batters, he is aware of the importance of test cricket and the competition for a spot in the team.

Several other players, including his Mumbai teammates Sarfaraz Khan and Shreyas Iyer, as well as KL Rahul and Rajat Patidar, are ahead of him in the selection order. Nonetheless, he is committed to giving his best in the domestic tournaments to earn another opportunity to don the whites for India.
