Smriti Mandhana, the Indian star opener and vice-captain of the Women's Indian cricket team, has joined the Adelaide Strikers for the upcoming 10th edition of the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL).

This marks her fourth WBBL team, having previously played for Brisbane Heat (WBBL|02), Hobart Hurricanes (WBBL|04), and Sydney Thunder (WBBL|07).

Mandhana has gained immense popularity and name in the cricketing fraternity. She became the first Indian to sign a WBBL pre-draft overseas contract and will join the Adelaide Strikers for the upcoming season.

In a statement, Adelaide Strikers said, "Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana, one of the leading stars in women's cricket has joined the Strikers for the upcoming WBBL|10 season. This significant signing highlights the Strikers' commitment to maintaining a strong squad as they chase a third consecutive WBBL title."

Smriti Mandhana's Cricketing Career

The stylish opener has two ICC Women's Cricketer of the Year awards, a feat only matched by Australia’s Ellyse Perry.

In T20 Internationals, she has scored 3,493 runs for India at an average of 28.86 and a strike rate of 122.51, which includes 26 fifties. Her expertise in T20 cricket makes her a valuable asset in the women’s T20 league circuit.

Earlier this year, Mandhana, under the guidance of coach Luke Williams, led Royal Challengers Bengaluru to victory in the Women’s Premier League 2024 title.

Besides Mandhana, India's Harmanpreet Kaur, Jemimah Rodrigues and Deepti Sharma are among the first nominations for the upcoming WBBL draft, scheduled on September 1.

The WBBL-10 season will kick off on October 27, with the Adelaide Strikers hosting Brisbane Heat at the Adelaide Oval.
