'How Can That Be Poor?'- Rohit Sharma Slams ICC For Rating WC Final Pitch Below Average

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma's recent remarks have brought attention to the contrasting expectations regarding pitch conditions in international cricket. Following India's swift victory over South Africa in the second Test at Newlands, Sharma expressed his willingness to play on challenging pitches like Cape Town but criticised the International Cricket Council (ICC) for rating the ODI World Cup Final pitch as below average.

Sharma argued that if a batter manages to score a century on a pitch, it cannot be considered poor. He specifically pointed to Travis Head's match-winning century at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad during the World Cup Final.

The India captain emphasised that teams should refrain from complaining about Indian pitches while embracing the challenge of playing in different conditions.

Here's what Rohit Sharma said:

"I still can't believe that the World Cup Final was rated below average. A batter scored a century. How can that be a poor pitch then? I don't mind playing on pitches like this as long as everyone keeps their mouth shut in India & doesn’t complain about Indian pitches."

The Cape Town Test itself was a spectacle, with India securing a seven-wicket victory in just two days. The pitch at Newlands provided both swing and seam movement, leading to low scores and rapid dismissals.

Sharma criticised the ICC's treatment of pitches, particularly questioning the below-average rating given to a pitch where a batter achieved a notable milestone.
