Ahead of the much-awaited World Test Championship (WTC) final, Australian spinner Nathan Lyon has showered praise on Cameron Green for his exceptional performance during the recent IPL 2023 with the Mumbai Indians.

Lyon believes that Green's confidence has skyrocketed to a whole new level, and his presence in the Australian dressing room has undergone a profound transformation.

Prior to the IPL, Green had earned a place in Australia's squad for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy held in India. During this series, he left a lasting mark by crafting an attacking 114 runs off 143 deliveries in the last Test held in Ahmedabad, earning plaudits from the cricketing fraternity.

With both teams now preparing themselves for the highly anticipated World Test Championship (WTC) final at The Oval, all eyes are on Green after his impressive batting exploits over the past two and a half months.

In a recent conversation with cricket.com.au,  Lyon shared his thoughts on Green's remarkable growth and the potential he brings to the table for the forthcoming WTC final, set to commence on June 7

The Veteran spinner remarked Green's mere presence within the team has undergone a noticeable transformation following his participation in the IPL and his impressive century in Ahmedabad. He noted that the 24-year-old's self-assurance is on the rise, allowing him to express his true self and become more open within the team dynamic.

"His presence around the team has definitely changed after being a part of that IPL and after scoring that hundred in Ahmedabad. He's growing in confidence and being himself more, coming out of his shell a little bit more around the team,” said Lyon.

Lyon further attributed this growth to Green's exposure to the IPL environment, where he had the opportunity to learn from seasoned players like Rohit Sharma, as well as other accomplished players.

"I think that just comes from being able to hang in there and play the IPL and be around the likes of (Mumbai and India Test captain) Rohit Sharma and these guys to learn off them,” added the 35-year-old off-spinner.

Meanwhile, Green, who was bought by Mumbai Indians for a staggering INR 17.5 crore did not disappoint, amassing an impressive tally of 452 runs with a strike rate surpassing 160. He also picked six wickets and scored a stunning century which helped the five-time IPL champions to qualify for the playoffs.
