Sunrisers Hyderabad head coach Daniel Vettori has tipped young all-rounder Harsh Dubey to evolve into a multifaceted asset by IPL 2026, following the left-arm spinner’s career-best 3/34 against Kolkata Knight Riders.
Dubey’s wickets of Rinku Singh, Andre Russell, and Ramandeep Singh anchored SRH’s 110-run victory, capping off their season with three consecutive wins to finish sixth.
Vettori Believes Harsh Dubey Is Set to Shine
The 22-year-old signed mid-season as an injury replacement for ₹30 lakh, and emerged as a surprise weapon for SRH. His tactical spell against KKR highlighted his adaptability, complementing Heinrich Klaasen’s record-breaking 105* as SRH posted 278/3, the third-highest IPL total.
Dubey now gears up for India A’s tour of England, set to face England Lions in two first-class matches starting May 30. Vettori lauded Dubey’s immediate impact.
“We’re very pleased with what he’s done since joining the team. He’s obviously a very clever bowler, he understands conditions well, knows how he needs to bowl, and can mix things up effectively. We were really looking for that bit of control, and he’s provided it in all three games he’s played so far,” Vettori said as per India Today.
“The great thing for him is that between now and the next IPL, he’ll be playing a lot of cricket, whether for India A or his domestic team. There will be plenty of opportunities for him, and we believe he can continue to grow—not just as a bowler, but also as a batter,” Vettori added.
Dubey, named Player of the Tournament in Vidarbha’s Ranji Trophy 2024-25 triumph, finished his debut IPL stint with five wickets in three matches at an average of 19.60. His inclusion in SRH’s XI coincided with the team’s late-season resurgence, offering a glimpse of his potential to balance the side’s dynamics moving forward.
