Considering the fact that Rohit Sharma is not having a good time on the field, he has been the talk of the town during the entire ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Gautam Gambhir, India’s current head coach, only made matters worse, and it was Gambhir’s press conference less than 24 hours prior to the fifth and final Test between India and Australia that sparked controversy.
The Typical Gautam Gambhir Press Conference!
During the press conference, Gambhir, as usual at his stubborn nature, made some fiery remark as soon as the reporter had asked him why Rohit was not there to attend the press conference. Gambhir replied: "Everything is fine with Rohit Sharma. I don't think it's anything traditional, I think the Head Coach is here that should be fine and that should be good enough".
To add more flavour into it, Gambhir, when asked if Rohit is playing the final Test, told the playing XI is yet to be decided. "We will take the Playing XI call at the toss after looking at the pitch tomorrow," he said.
Recently, there have been multiple reports suggesting things are not well in India's dressing room. Gambhir shut them all there as well, saying "Those are just reports, not the truth, I don’t need to comment on any reports, honesty is important, we want to go on & achieve some great things".
Rohit's Spot In Danger?
If Rohit does not play, India will have Jasprit Bumrah as their captain. Bumrah did remarkably well in Perth, dominating Australia to tear them apart in their own backyard in the first innings. However, things did not go well since Rohit is back, and if he misses out, Shubman Gill might be recalled.
