After bowling his team to victory, Mumbai Indians (MI) pacer Jasprit Bumrah pointed out the challenges posed by time restrictions and the proliferation of deep batting lineups with the impact player rule.

Bumrah dismantled the Punjab Kings (PBKS) batting line-up with match-defining figures of 3/21 from four overs. He began his spell by uprooting Rilee Rossouw's stumps with a pinpoint yorker, setting the tone for his team with the new ball.

After that, he dismissed PBKS skipper Sam Curran and Shashank Singh, adding to his tally of victims.

With this fiery spell, Bumrah now leads the bowling charts in IPL 2024, donning the prestigious Purple Cap with a total of 13 wickets at an impressive average of 7.84.

"This was a close game. Much closer than what we thought it would go. Of course you want to make an impact when the ball does something. In this format the ball swings two overs. When I want to bowl more, I play Test cricket," said Jaspirt Bumrah after winning player of the match award.

"This format (T20) is a little difficult for bowlers, with time restrictions and impact player rules. Batting lineup becomes deeper and deeper. But that's not in your control. I do relay the message to the bowlers whenever I can. But you also don't want to deliver too many messages in the heat of the moment."

Opting to bat first, MI suffered an early setback with the dismissal of dashing opener Ishan Kishan. However, senior pros Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav steadied the innings with a promising 81-run partnership for the second wicket.

Later, SKY joined forces with Tilak Varma to build a crucial 49-run alliance for the third wicket. Tim David and skipper Hardik Pandya played valuable cameos to boost MI's total to 192/7.

Facing a daunting chase at 77/6, PBKS appeared to be on the verge of defeat. But a sensational 28-ball 61 from Ashutosh Sharma sparked a remarkable comeback.

He revived PBKS's hopes. However, despite his valiant efforts, PBKS fell short by nine runs.
