The recently concluded three-match ODI series between India and South Africa was a pure thriller and a much-awaited treat for the fans. After a horrific Test series, they bounced back and sealed the series by a 2-1 margin.

As the fans are busy marveling at RO-KO’s brilliance in the series, Yashasvi Jaiswal scored his maiden ODI hundred in the last game. His stunning ton even prompted former star Irfan Pathan to drop a powerful piece of advice to elevate the youngster’s game further.

Yashasvi’s fireworks leave Irfan Pathan in absolute awe

With one win for each side, the third ODI between India and South Africa was a decider. Restricting the Proteas to just 270 runs, Team India nailed the chase as Yashasvi Jaiswal’s unbeaten ton propelled India’s victory. The sensational knock not only sealed the win but also marked Yashasvi’s maiden ODI hundred, adding another feather to his growing list of achievements.

Coming to open the innings with Rohit Sharma, Jaiswal reflected pure class. Completing an exciting half-century in 75 balls, he smashed a spectacular hundred in 111 balls. Speaking on his YouTube channel, former Indian star Irfan Pathan praised Jaiswal’s on-field brilliance, hailing his stunning performance.

“It was important to come runs off Yashasvi Jaiswal’s bat. He is an all-format player and I had said before the series that he can hit 200 if set. The way he batted after his half-century showed he can make big scores. But he struggled initially, stepped out, got beaten and tried to cut numerous times,"  he said.

“He has Test hundreds, a T20I ton, and now he has a century in all three formats. It shows his potential. Despite the struggle, he didn’t play any rash shot to throw away his wicket. Jaiswal opted to stay at the crease despite the struggle,” he added.

Irfan Pathan guides Jaiswal with some crucial tips

Even Jaiswal’s masterclass blew away the nation, Irfan Pathan spotted areas for improvement. Breaking down his technique, Pathan highlighted key aspects the youngster could work on to make his game even more formidable.

“It was sensational to see the young man scoring runs. But I would like to analyse his technique a bit deeper. His hip goes towards short fine leg, and his shoulder’s upper body opens up, and he tries to go side on. He needs to synchronize these three things. He struggles with these initially, especially against left-arm bowlers. When Jaiswal gets time, he should work on these,” he said.

After struggling in the first two ODIs, the third match was crucial for Yashasvi Jaiswal and the young opener when it mattered the most. His sublime unbeaten 116 off 121 balls perfectly balanced aggression with control, guiding India with authority. With that, Team India sealed a nine-wicket victory and won the series against the Proteas.
