As the IPL 2025 is commencing within just a few days, the Delhi Capitals are standing in front of a transition. After releasing Rishabh Pant, they appointed Axar Patel as their captain of the ship. Under his guidance, the team will hunt for the desired trophy.

In Delhi’s setup, young wicketkeeper batter Abishek Porel is shaping his career under the guidance of some greats. He fondly calls captain Axar Patel his "big brother," praising his constant support on and off the field. Under the new captain, they are eyeing their maiden IPL trophy.

Delhi Capitals are gearing up for IPL 2025 with a fresh setup and a new leader at the helm. A key pillar of the team since 2019, Axar now takes charge as captain, bringing experience and stability. As the team is stepping into a new journey, young wicketkeeper-batter Abishek Porel is confident about ending the wait for their maiden IPL trophy. He also lauded Axar's exceptional leadership, which he feels will drive the team to success.

“Axar bhai has been with Delhi Capitals for the last 3-4 (7) years, so he knows everything. He is a good choice. It’s good for us too. He is like a big brother and has helped me a lot, both on and off the field.” he said

"He is funny off the field and focused on the field. I am really excited to play under him, and I am sure DC will win a trophy under his captaincy,” he added.

Porel Is Ready For A Power Packed Season

Coming to the franchise as a youngster, Abishek Porel has showcased his excellence in the last season. Known for his attacking batting style, he scored 327 runs in 12 matches along with 2 half-centuries. In the recently ended domestic season, he worked hard on his game. As the new season is commencing soon, he is ready shine in DC’s jersey.

“I love challenges. From what I was to what I am now, I can see a lot of improvement in my preference and game. For the last 12 months, I have focused on my game and worked on my mental strength. The game has changed a lot and is becoming faster and more challenging. So, I am trying my best to match up to that,” he said.

“The level of cricket has gone really high. I play domestic cricket, but when I wasn’t playing or during non-cricket days, I worked a lot in NCA. I had an impressive domestic season, and my ultimate aim is to do well this season,” he added.

With a whole new setup of coach, captain, and support staff, Delhi Capitals is aiming to unlock the desired momentum. On March 24, they still start their journey while facing the Lucknow Super Giants in their inaugural match.
