Former Australian all-rounder Shane Watson has praised Indian cricket legends Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni, particularly highlighting their mental resilience.

In speaking about Dhoni's unique approach to the game, Watson emphasised the stark contrast between Dhoni and Kohli's intensity levels on the field.


Watson Praises Dhoni's Strategic Acumen And Leadership

Shane Watson noted that MS Dhoni, known for his calm demeanor, can display low intensity to be effective. He said:

"Dhoni doesn’t need to be at nine out of ten with his intensity level; he needs to be around six. He remains fully engaged and trusts his intuition because it’s as good as there’s ever been."

Watson remarked in an exclusive interview with IANS during the promotion of his new book, 'The Winner’s Mindset'.

Despite being 42, Dhoni continues to excel due to his ability to keep his mind free, allowing him to access his deeply ingrained skills. Watson added:

"Dhoni’s understanding of the information and the world around him, and his ability to break complex concepts into simple ones, is one of his superpowers. He knows how to redirect players at the right time, whether it’s in-game or in the lead-up to games. He does this for himself as well."

He highlighted Dhoni's recent performance in the IPL, where he scored 161 runs in 14 innings for the Chennai Super Kings, impressing fans with his consistent batting and sharp wicketkeeping.

The Chennai Super Kings management has indicated that Dhoni is expected to take a few months to decide on his future in the IPL.

Watson also lauded Virat Kohli as one of the most mentally strong players in the current era, showcasing a different yet effective approach to the game compared to Dhoni.
