Despite ending up on the losing side, Bumrah's remarkable performance served as a significant morale booster for India as they look ahead to the ODI World Cup 2023. Captain Rohit Sharma expressed his satisfaction with Bumrah's showing and emphasized that the fast bowler is in excellent physical and mental shape.

Bumrah had faced an extended period of injury-related absence, making his return a momentous positive for the Indian cricket team. Rohit Sharma left no room for doubt, asserting that one subpar game would not dent Bumrah's confidence. He said:

"I'm pretty happy, more importantly how he (Bumrah) feels body-wise, he has got so much skill, one bad game can happen to anyone. How he feels mentally and body-wise is key for us and that's looking good for us."

Expressing his contentment with India's World Cup preparations, Rohit Sharma chose not to dwell too much on the 66-run loss to Australia in the final match of the three-match ODI series.

Rohit Sharma, along with team management under Coach Rahul Dravid, displayed unwavering clarity regarding the 15-member squad for World Cup duty. The eagerly anticipated announcement of the final squad was slated for Thursday, September 28.

Reflecting on the recent performance of the team, Rohit Sharma stated, "In the last 7-8 ODIs, we have consistently performed well under varying conditions. We faced challenges at different junctures and rose to the occasion admirably. Regrettably, today's result was not what we aimed for, but I won't dwell on this game too much. Our overall performance has been commendable."

Rohit Sharma, who has been in remarkable form, accumulating several half-centuries in recent matches, shared his thoughts on his personal performance.

"I am quite content with my current form. While I aspire to achieve more, as long as I maintain this level of performance, I am satisfied," he remarked.

Despite concerns regarding Axar Patel's quadriceps injury, Rohit Sharma confidently asserted that the team had identified the key players who would excel for India in the upcoming World Cup and said:

"We have a clear understanding of our objectives and the individuals who will execute them within our 15-member squad. There's no room for ambiguity; we are fully aware of our direction."
