One of the biggest cricketing rivalries between India and Pakistan will resume on October 14, when both sides take the field in Ahmedabad for their highly-anticipated ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 encounter.

India holds a staggering 7-0 50-overs World Cup record over Pakistan, and heads into the clash after gaining a massive 228-run win in the Asia Cup 2023 Super 4s tie.

Ahead of the marquee encounter, former Pakistan captain and coach Waqar Younis has given India a distinct advantage over his home nation.

Speaking to Star Sports, Younis, who captained Pakistan in the 2003 World Cup, spoke about how the Indo-Pak match is the "mother of games", as well as the pressure that comes around it.

Here's what Younis said

"Then again, as we all know, it will be the biggest game, mother of all the games. So, when you will play in Ahmedabad, which has one of the biggest and finest stadiums in the world, you will have to control your nerves and not only Pakistan will be under pressure since it is a weaker team as compared to India but India will be also under pressure because the crowd in the stadium will create pressure on both the teams and that will balance the pressure in the game. However, if we judge purely based on the team’s performance, clearly India definitely will be a better team.”

Pakistan begin its WC campaign on October 6 taking on the Netherlands, and then Sri Lanka on October 10, before the all-important India game. The Babar Azam led side plays their first warm-up today against New Zealand at Hyderabad.
