The magic of Varun Chakravarthy on his return series continues. The Indian spinner once more made his presence felt with a couple of wickets as India look to defend a formidable total and take an unassailable lead in the series.

The South African skipper, Aiden Markram invited India to bat first after he won the third toss of the series. The Indian team were dealt an early blow as Sanju Samson was dismissed in the first over of the match by Marco Jansen for a silver duck.

Tilak Varma Helps India Reach A Formidable Total

After the dismissal of Samson, Abhishek Sharma and Tilak Varma joined hands to lay the foundation for India. The two left handed batters took the attack to the opposition and propelled the team towards a massive total. Abhishek Sharma fell after scoring a fiery half century from 25 deliveries. But Tilak Varma stayed strong and continued attacking the bowlers.

The Southpaw played a dazzling knock and brought up his maiden T20I century in the 19th over of the innings. His Hundred came up in just 51 deliveries. Varma remained unbeaten on 107 off 56 deliveries and helped India reach a total of 219/6 in their 20 overs.

In the reply, South Africa did not have a great stars as they lost Ryan Rickelton in the third over. After this, wickets kept falling at regular intervals and India put South Africa under great pressure. At this stage, the onus was on Aiden Markram to stabilise the innings before David Miller and Heinrich Klaasen took over.

Aiden Markram Fails To Deliver Once Again

However, Markram's knock did not stretch too long as India's mystery spinner soon accounted for him. On the last delivery of the tenth over, Chakrvarthy bowled a short delivery outside the off stump. Markram pulled the ball in the air towards deep mid-wicket. But the South African captain did not get the connection right. Rinku Singh in the deep caught the ball and ended Markram's stay in the middle.

Aiden Markram was visibly disappointed with how things panned out and was seen cursing himself while walking back to the hut.
