In the 41st match of IPL 2025, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will face off against Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. Tilak Varma, a left-handed batter who’s been playing well for MI since 2022, is hopeful that this will be the year MI finally wins the IPL again. MI didn’t start the season well, but according to Tilak, they’ve made a strong comeback.
Tilak Varma Hopeful To End MI's Title Drought
Over the past few seasons, MI have often started slow but somehow found a way to fight back and they’re doing the same this year. They won only one of their first five matches, but things turned around after a close 12-run win over Delhi Capitals. Then came back-to-back wins against Sunrisers Hyderabad and Chennai Super Kings, putting MI back in the playoff race.
Right now, MI is sixth on the points table, but if they beat SRH on Wednesday, they could jump into the top three. For Tilak, this game is even more special because it’s happening in his hometown, Hyderabad.
He shared in a special episode of “Gen Bold” on JioHotstar:
“I always tell Rohit bhai and Surya bhai that I haven’t had that winning feeling yet. I joined in 2022, but we haven’t won the trophy since then. Personally, the last three seasons have gone well for me, but the team hasn’t had the results we wanted. This year, we are confident and ready to give it our all—heart and soul."
How MI Can Still Qualify For Playoffs
This season so far, MI have won three matches in a row and is starting to look like one of the top teams again. With teams like KKR and CSK struggling, MI’s chances are getting much better. However, if we talk about their qualifications chances, the formula is simple:
Win all the remaining matches and MI can qualify for the playoffs easily. If they win at least five more matches, they’ll have 18 points, which should be enough to finish in the top two and secure a strong spot in the next stage.
