A terrible terror attack happened in Pahalgam, Kashmir, on Tuesday (April 22), where 26 people lost their lives. The whole country is heartbroken and in shock after this tragic incident. To pay tribute to the victims, the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) has reportedly taken a few important steps during today’s IPL match between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).
What Will Happen During SRH vs MI IPL Match?
- A one-minute silence will be observed before the match starts.
- Players from both teams, along with the match officials, will wear black armbands to show their respect for the people who lost their lives.
- There will be no fireworks or cheerleader performances during the match, as a mark of mourning.
The match is set to take place tonight at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, starting at 7:30 PM.
Cricketers Express Their Grief
Many well-known Indian cricketers have spoken out against the cruel attack. Virat Kohli, one of India’s top cricketers, posted a message on Instagram saying he was deeply saddened by the incident. He sent his condolences to the families of the victims and prayed for justice.
“Deeply saddened by the heinous attack in Pahalgam on innocent people. Heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims. Praying for peace and strength to families of all those who lost their lives and justice to be served for this cruel act,” Kohli wrote.
Ravi Shastri, former coach of the Indian cricket team, also called it a cowardly act and said the whole nation should stand united during this painful time.
What Happened in Pahalgam?
On Tuesday afternoon, terrorists opened fire near a popular tourist spot in Pahalgam. At least 26 people, mostly tourists, were killed in the attack. It’s being called the deadliest terror strike in Kashmir since the 2019 Pulwama attack.
