It's been tough going for the Men in Blue since the conclusion of the 2023 World Cup final that ended on a very heart-wrenching note. The fans who had rallied behind team India and backed them to claim their third ODI World Cup title were left utterly devastated after seeing the end outcome. Nevertheless, good wishes continue to pour in for team India who endured a remarkable World Cup campaign.

India may have fallen short in the World Cup final but the fearless brand of cricket that they had displayed over the last 45-odd days has given their fans countless memories to cherish. While the nation still continues to mourn the defeat of the national side, there is still a substantial amount of grief within the Indian Men’s Cricket team camp.

The 1983 World Cup-winning captain Kapil Dev has echoed the sentiments of the entire nation and encouraged Team India to overcome their heartbreak. The sorrowful post-match visuals of Shami and Sharma in tears and the shattered looks on the faces of Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, and many others were difficult for most to digest.

But Kapil believes that one bad day, irrespective of the magnitude should not pull a start-studded side like India down. Moreover, he urged the Indian side to forget the scenes from the World Cup final and embark on setting up a new goal.

"Sportsmen have to move on. You can't cling on to one setback your entire life. Fans can do this, but not sportsmen. You have to plan for the next day. We can't undo what has happened but just keep working hard. That's what sportspersons are all about. Yes, we couldn't cross the final hurdle but the perfect sportsman learns from this experience."

Additionally, Kapil heaped a lot of praise on the Indian side and appreciated the quality of cricket India played throughout the tournament. Although India failed to overcome the final hurdle, Kapil explains that the talented side will have plenty to learn from their defeat and will aim to bounce back as a much stronger side in the near future.
