Notably, the dashing opening batsman was also involved in a similar controversy following the conclusion of Pakistan’s tumultuous World Cup 2019 campaign in England, as he was accused of dating as many as seven women simultaneously after his WhatsApp chats were leaked online.
When Imam-ul-Haq had his private chats leaked
Imam-ul-Haq was subjected to much criticisms for his lacklustre returns with the bat for Pakistan at the 2023 World Cup in India. As it turns out, the cricketer is also facing severe backlash for his social affairs as some of his explicit private chats with a woman surfaced online just four days prior to his planned wedding with Anmol Mehmood.
Interestingly, the cricketer was also involved in a similar controversy following the conclusion of the 2019 World Cup. Back in July 2019, the cricketer was accused of using his stature in Pakistan cricket for exploiting women after several of his WhatsApp chats were leaked on social media.
Numerous screenshots of Imam’s WhatsApp chats, spanning six months including his time in England for the 2019 World Cup, went viral on X (then Twitter), subjecting the cricketer to severe criticism.
Imam-ul-Haq is also often accused of being a beneficiary of nepotism in Pakistan cricket, considering he made his national debut when his uncle Inzamam-ul-Haq was the PCB chief selector.
Regardless, the 28-year-old boasts of a staggering record in ODIs, as he averages close to 50 in the format despite featuring in 72 matches. Having made his Pakistan debut in October 2017, the left-hander has represented his nation in 22 Tests, 72 ODIs and two T20I matches so far, aggregating over 4,500 runs across all formats.
