Indian captain Rohit Sharma is set to lead his side in the upcoming World Cup 2023 final against Australia off the back of an unbeaten run. Under his guidance, the ‘Men in Blue’ incidentally defeated Australia in their tournament opener before trouncing each of their subsequent eight opponents in the league stage.

A day prior to the much-awaited title clash, Rohit signified the importance of role clarity in his team and revealed that team management has been identifying key players for specific roles ever since he became leader.

During a recent pre-match press conference, Rohit claimed that his troops have been preparing for the 2023 World Cup ever since he was appointed as India captain two years ago, i.e., following the team’s 2021 T20 World Cup debacle in the UAE.

The dashing opening batsman added that the team management has been identifying players for specific roles, which in turn has given them huge clarity in finding their way to the 2023 World Cup finals. The cricketer stated that everyone on the team is aware of their specific roles and is hoping for a good outing against Australia on the big day.

Here's what Rohit Sharma Said

“We have prepared for this day ever since I became the captain. We had to identify players in the last 2 years, as per the formats. We had given role clarity and lots of discussions between the captain and coach. The importance of role clarity is huge for us reaching this platform. We have tried our best to keep the mindset and roles clear. So far so good, hopefully tomorrow as well.”

Rohit Sharma has himself led from the front in his side’s unbeaten crusade so far. Opening the batting for Team India alongside Shubman Gill, the seasoned campaigner has bludgeoned 550 runs at an astonishing strike rate of over 120 across 10 World Cup 2023 innings.

Sharma has already produced a match-winning ton and three additional fifty-plus scores, along with a number of sparkling 40s at the top of the order to underpin India’s powerplay bombardment.

Under his leadership, the Indian team will be facing Australia for their final World Cup 2023 hurdle on November 19. The much-awaited contest will be hosted by the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
